Your baby’s first year is upon you and they’re about to reach one of the most important milestones of their lives. What an exciting year of development, emotions and a huge achievement to celebrate. As it’s their first birthday, you’ll want to celebrate it in the most memorable and fun way possible. So why not do so with a wonderful cake smash filled with happiness, laughter and mess that you don’t need to clear up! (that’s my job).
With a cake smash photoshoot your little one’s cake smash will capture stunning portraits before moving on to the messy bit where your baby will eat, smash or tentatively play with their cake made by my wonderful cake baker at Brownie Heaven. Not only do these cakes taste amazing but they will be made to match your chosen colour scheme. Allergies will also be catered for so there is no need to worry if your baby has a dietary need. The photoshoot will finish with your baby chilling or soaking the studio as they wash all the cake away in a warm bubbly bath. (sounds like heaven to me).
All Cake Smash photoshoots will include all props and a set up to match your chosen colour scheme and of course, the cake will be provided and collected by me, so you don’t need to provide anything.
This is an amazing moment to capture the very first birthday milestone that you will be able to look back on and treasure.
When is the Best Time for a Cake Smash Photoshoot?
The best time to capture this special first birthday milestone is on the lead up to or on their birthday as an extra special day to remember. Every parent has different ideas with some wanting to have their shoot and show off their images and use them on their special day, whilst others see it as an event and experience to do on or very near to their birthday. There are no rules so I will work with you to find the most convenient time.

- Sessions typically last 60-90 minutes, allowing time for any comfort and drink breaks
- I will work patiently with your baby and you to make sure you are happy throughout. This is a new experience for your little one and some babies may need a little more encouragement and reassurance as they settle into their cake smash.
- No doubt the fun will unfold as they are given a wooden spoon to explore the cake or start smashing it with their hands and toes.
Cosy and Comfortable Environment
- Upon arrival, you’ll settle into a warm, comfortable space, while I patiently coax your baby into a fun and exciting photoshoot
- No need to bring anything but your baby—cake, props, and towels are all provided.
Exciting, fun, Safe Photoshoot
- Your baby’s Cake Smash photoshoot will be broken down into three fun shoots. Capturing some clean shot with ONE props to start, then onto the messy part with cake, and ending with a bubble bath.
- I prioritise your baby’s safety and comfort, ensuring the experience is enjoyable for both you and your little one. I take time to stop if your baby is unhappy at any point and needs a cuddle, drink or just a short time out.

Your Southampton Baby Photographer
There are no rules about when to book so this is really down to your own personal choice. I often find that most clients like to have their images before a birthday, so they can use the images to show off at a party. Whilst others love to book the cake smash for their actual birthday to create even more special memories.
I have a large array of outfits and props to style your shoot with but you may also have some favourite outfits at home too. You are free to bring these along and I will discuss ideas and talk through how you wish me to style the shoot including any colour preferences.
You will be provided with a preparation guide to make sure you know exactly where to come and what to prepare before.
We returned to Claire for a cake smash and she didn’t disappoint. She was singing nursery rhymes and playing peak a boo to try and get the perfect shot, we had so much fun.
Cake Smash Photography Packages and Pricing
I charge a session fee of £75 for your shoot. My session fee covers my time, use of props and an outfit and a professionally made cake to match your theme. The session can also include parents and siblings. I ask for the session fee to be paid to secure your booking in my diary.
Once your shoot has taken place, I will edit your images will be hand edited by me and your viewing gallery of images will be available within 1-2 weeks of your session. You are then able to choose from one of may packages.
I offer a range of packages designed to suit every family’s needs, ensuring you get beautiful, high-quality images of your newborn to treasure forever. Each package includes hand-edited, high-resolution digital images, with the option to add stunning prints and wall art to complete your collection.
